  • Starts Via XX Settembre 27, Monterosso
  • Short uphill walk and stairs

Most people see Monterosso from the beach. This walk takes you into the version locals know: the quiet caruggi, the old oratories, the views you only reach on foot.

You will start in the heart of the old village and wander the narrow lanes where Monterosso still feels lived-in. Along the way you will visit the Oratory of the Whites, the Church of San Giovanni Battista and the Oratory of the Blacks, and hear how confraternities, faith, the danger of the sea and everyday village life shaped this place over centuries.

The route climbs gently towards the Capuchin church and convent, with open views over the rooftops, the coastline and the sea. Inside, among its quiet artworks, is a Crucifixion traditionally attributed to Van Dyck.

Back where you started, the walk ends the way it should in Liguria: with a relaxed tasting of local wine and a few bites. After seeing the village and hearing its stories, you taste the territory in the glass, and leave with honest tips on which local wines and products to look for during your stay.
